Mirrors not only add style to your condo interiors, but they also make a space feel larger by adding dimension. Scope out a spot for a mirror in your new condo and then either head to your local home store or upcycle a mirror you already own. Choose an old framed mirror that’s appropriate for the wall space. Pick up some paint that complements the color scheme of your condo, as well as some tape and plastic covering. In an open space, tape off the mirror section so that the mirror is covered in the plastic and only the frame is showing. Paint the frame of the mirror with two coats to ensure an even layer. Take the tape and plastic off once the paint dries and you have a restored mirror to go in your new space!
Any DIY enthusiast knows about the versatility of wood pallets. These often-forgotten pieces can be turned into coffee tables, succulent walls, ottomans, and more! To make an ottoman out of these rustic finds, purchase a pallet at a hardware store (or find one from a neighbor or friend), get some foam and sturdy fabric, and upholster the top of the pallet. Make sure to use a fabric and foam that will be sturdy enough to hold weight. Then, step up the look by adding some cute legs!
Throw pillows can add so much personality to a living room or bedroom. There are many options for decorating throw pillows and often, the best creations come from following your own creativity. One option? Try decorating canvas pillow covers with gold or bronze leaf. The gold and bronze leaf can be applied in whatever pattern you want. This is a great DIY project to do with the family or when you have kids or grandchildren visiting.
This projects is a little less involved and is perfect for those new to DIY interior decorating. Head down to your local feed store, vintage shop, or thrift store and hunt for a wooden ladder. Once you find one, sand it down and refinish it so that it complements the aesthetic of your condo interiors. Lean the ladder against an empty wall in either the bedroom or the living room and drape blankets over the rods for a creative blanket storage.
Stay both organized and stylish with a decorative memo board. Start by painting an old photo frame (leave the glass untouched). Put a light colored sheet of paper in the frame. Now you can write on top of the glass with dry erase markers and wipe it off with ease.
Find some old jars at your local thrift shop and candle wax, essential oils, and wicks at your local craft store. Melt the candle wax and mix a few drops of your favorite essential oils into the wax. Clean the jars out thoroughly and pour the melted candle wax into each jar. Place a wick into the center of each candle and let cool. These are great for both decorating your home and giving as gifts for birthdays or holidays!
Though this is one of the more involved DIY home decor crafts, the end result is well worth it. If you don’t have an old dresser you’re willing to sacrifice for your coffee bar, a thrift store is a great place to look. Once you have an old dresser, take out the drawers (you can repurpose those as well – see #8). Sand the dresser down and paint it. Place a thin piece of wood where the dresser drawers once sat, creating shelves. Feel free to cut some of the drawer frames out for a simpler look. For mug storage, secure hooks to the top of one shelf and hang mugs by their handles.
Take the drawers from an old dresser, remove any hardware, sand them down, and paint them the color of your choice. Secure the bottoms of the drawers to a wall. Now, fill each shelf with decor pieces. Remember to keep the weight light so the shelves can support it.
DIY home decor crafts can help you infuse your personal style into your home. Revamping your living space can be an exciting way to express yourself and moving into a new condo gives you the perfect opportunity to do just that. Once you have your space set up exactly how you want it, there’s no place like home.
